7th Grade & 8th Grade
Both ELA 7th and 8th grade students continue to develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through Studysync lessons. Argument writing is a focus during quarter 3, with all students receiving direct instruction on how to conduct research using reliable sources and then constructing a 3-5 paragraph argument essay. Students continue to work on skills of collaborating, manipulating language, and asking relevant questions.
All students should be reading an independent reading book at least 20 minutes every night; students are encouraged to read from a variety of genres, including selections from the library – sponsored Royal Reader contest.
